Here at Garden Edibles we’re lovers of food, especially home grown. We all know the drill “nothing like a home grown tomato” we all know this because it’s true. I would never put down a farmer, but, I can never buy the same quality as I can grow myself. This is what led me in to the business of seeds. Having given up on trying to find a zucchini that tasted as I remembered from my youth, (whether I grew it myself from seeds purchased from the local garden shop or the most expensive organic from a farmers market) I began to doubt my abilities as a gardener. That was until my first trip to Italy, like all my travels, I visit garden stores and the food markets. Well, upon seeing the first rack of seeds in that small general store outside of Como I was encouraged to try again. I bought about 20 packs of seeds 5 being different zucchini which I planted as soon as I returned. I can’t describe how happy I was to be reunited with the taste of zucchini, the way it should taste, sweet, nutty and not that watery bland inedible zucchini I gave up on.
So after 10 years of growing seeds purchased in Italy in my garden and working in garden design and the nursery trade, I found myself planting my zucchini in my garden when I had the thought “I should import the seeds so others can have the same great gardening and eating experience” now more then two years later I’m happy to say I’ve helped others discover great food from their own gardens. We live and work in Winnetka, CA and tend over 10,000 sq feet of organic garden.
